During an announcement on 17th August, KT Rama Rao, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, disclosed the allotment of double-bedroom houses to economically challenged families living near River Musi's banks. Around 10,000 homes will be helped by this initiative.
The Minister said that this initiative aims to offer basic amenities to the underprivileged and also cleanse the river banks from encroachments. In a meeting with Hyderabad City's MLAs and MA&UD officials, the Minister underlined the necessity of this change.
The MLAs, appreciating Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's efforts, also offered their support.
They requested 10,000 double-bedroom houses for those nesting by the river and the extraction of encroachments.
KT Rama Rao praised the proposal's alignment with the government's vision to prevent flooding and exclaimed that the identified families would be relocated to safer areas and provided with 2BHK houses.
This would eradicate unauthorised constructions and prevent floods. The preliminary Musi project plans are accomplished, and SNDP Phase-II works are impending, with 2BHK house distribution commencing soon.
