Property Owners Are Liable For the Payment of Property Tax

Each owner of a property is liable for a property tax, whether he is the occupant of the asset or has leased it. Thus, the owner of a leased property continues to receive the tax notice for the property tax, but in some cases, it may recover the amount via the tenant, particularly if it is provided for in a commercial lease.

Similarly, the property tax applies equally to "real" buildings, that is to say, housing and factories, as well as "undeveloped" immovable property, such as building land and residential land.

Calculation of property tax

50% of the fictitious charges of the rental value from the built-up properties, resulting in a net rent expense.

This calculation makes it possible to obtain the tax base. The taxpayer then multiplies the net rental value of rates set each year by the local authorities' municipalities, departments, and regions which make it possible to obtain the amount of the property tax.

Each year, all the owners receive a tax notice to the property tax that considers each property. If you are a homeowner, please note that you have to pay the full amount of your tax within the limit of time of tax. If you do not set this amount on time, you are exposed to a 10% surcharge.
