The restoration of the historic fountain, Gulzar Houz, is taking place in the Old City of Hyderabad. The project commenced in February and aims to revitalise and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Hyderabad.
With constant and steady progress, the Gulzar Houz, which was constructed in the 16th century, will soon be open to the public. It will offer a glimpse into the city’s glorious past.
Gulzar Houz, which was initially called by the name “Char Su Ka Houz” (fountain of the four sides), will be expanded to be approximately 5-6 feet deep.
Gulzar Houz, located at a distance of 350 feet equidistant from the four kamaans,
served as a vital drinking water source for the local population.
Over the years, Gulzar Houz has transformed. Initially constructed with twelve sides, it gradually evolved into an octagonal shape and appeared almost circular.
