Rs 500 & 12kg Free Rice Distribution to all Telangana Migrant Workers

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced lockdown to safeguard people and to control the spread of coronavirus in the state. Because of the lockdown, the majority of the activities in most of the sectors were shut down, daily wage laborers and other poor people were facing several hardships.

To rescue the poor and the needy in the wake of the complete lockdown of the State to control coronavirus, CM K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday announced that the government would provide Rs 500 and 12 kg free rice distribution in Telangana at different areas under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. 

Free Rice Distribution in Telangana

Following the instructions of the government, Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan, Civil Supplies Chairman, M Srinivas Reddy, and other elected public representatives distributed 12 kg rice and Rs. 500 to each migrant worker at Jawaharnagar community Hall in Musheerabad Constituency on Tuesday. 

The Civil Supplies Corporation was making arrangements for about 4,028 metric tonnes of rice for distribution of 12 kg rice to 3,35,669 people in the State. The delivery of 12-kg rice to migrant workers will commence from April 1st onwards. Officials, along with local leaders under each fair price shop (FPS), will distribute time slot tokens to the cardholders. As such, they should not rush to the fair price shops and ensure social distance is maintained.

The Telangana government is making all necessary arrangements to extend support to the workers and help needy people during the state lockdown period.
