The SCR plans to set up EV charging stations in the Secunderabad division

The South Central Railway (SCR) is planning to set up new EV (Electric Vehicle) charging stations across various locations in the Secunderabad division.

Even though charging stations are already built at Kacheguda and Nampally railway stations, it is now planning to set up charging stations at MMTS stations as well.

Though successfully running with a capacity of charging at least 25 electric vehicles on average every day, the EV charging station at Kacheguda has not been functioning for quite some time now.

In the first phase, EV stations are to be set up at the MMTS railway stations at Lingampalli, Hitec City, Necklace Road, Sanjeevaiah Park, Lakdi-ka-pul and Ghatkesar.

On the other hand, the SCR also plans to make the best use of its vacant lands in the city suburbs and neighbouring districts.

In addition to this, the SCR, as part of its ‘Green Energy’ initiative, is taking up the construction of solar panels on the railway station premises and generating electricity.

This will, in turn, benefit the EV charging stations. The EV station at Kacheguda is run with the help of solar energy.
