Ward office system to be introduced in Hyderabad to address civic grievances

Ward office system to address civic grievances to be introduced

KT Rama Rao said that by introducing a ward office system to provide people with better means to redress their grievances, Hyderabad would become the first metro city to do so.

The minister stated that 150 Ward Offices will be inaugurated on June 16. Each will have ten staff members from various departments headed by the Ward Administrative Officer (WAO). People can lodge their civic grievances at these offices.

He claimed that an Assistant Municipal Commissioner rank officer would be the WAO. KTR added that they intend to bring the administration closer to people with this initiative, hoping that this will become a model for other cities.

He held an interactive session with Ward Level Officers of the GHMC and detailed the main functions of ward offices and the job responsibilities of each staff member. He added that a Citizens Charter would be released detailing the time to redress a grievance.
