Bairamalguda Flyover to be Launched by KTR on Monday

A flyover constructed between Owaisi junction and LB Nagar, worth Rs. 26.45 crores, will be launched by KTR and is expected to help regulate the one-way traffic.

KT Rama Rao on Monday, the Municipal Administration, and Urban Development Minister will be inaugurating the RHS flyover in Bairamalguda, which has been constructed under the SRDP (Strategic Road Development Programme).

The 780 meters flyover of 12 meters width and 400 meters viaduct costs Rs 26.45 crore. It has been constructed in Bairamalguda, to help the one-way traffic flow smoothly from LB Nagar to Owaisi junction.

The system was built to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic at the Bairamalguda junction, where the peak hour Passenger Car Unit (PCU) before Hyderabad Metro was registered as 11,875 in 2015 and 7,481 after Metro. Traffic levels are projected to increase dramatically in the coming years and are predicted to be 18,653 PCUs by 2034.

RCC precast technology was used in minor structural elements such as crash barriers, friction slabs, slab plates, etc., they said. The new facility would allow the free flow of inner ring road traffic from Secunderabad to Owaisi and Srisailam. GHMC officials said that precast and post-tension technology was integrated into significant substructure and superstructure elements by placing it in a yard and installing it on site.

This has helped to reduce installation and stress on-site work. This apart, formwork and staging were avoided at the pier site, pier top, deck floor, and crash barriers, officials said. "All of this helped significantly reduce the inconvenience to road traffic," the official said. Under package II of the SRDP, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is constructing 14 projects, including eight flyovers and four underpasses, at a total cost of Rs 448 crore in different areas of LB Nagar. Six of these projects, including the Chintalkunta underpass, the Kamineni LHS overpass, and the LB Nagar LHS overpass, have been completed.
