According to Health Minister T Harish Rao, plans are underway to construct a new facility at Osmania General Hospital without destroying the historic tower. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao stated that work on the building will begin soon.
At a Tuesday review meeting at the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, public representatives strongly supported developing a new Osmania Government Hospital building. The discussion, attended by officials and public representatives, focused on solving the people's urgent healthcare needs, even if it meant demolishing existing structures.
An affidavit will be submitted to the High Court after the meeting's unanimous proposal has been forwarded to the government for consideration. The High Court appointed an expert group from IIT Hyderabad's Archaeology Department to assess the hospital's functioning needs.
After receiving approval from the High Court, Health Minister Harish Rao said that construction on the new building would begin immediately. He stressed that Chief Minister KCR had ordered the construction of four Telangana Institutes of Medical Sciences since he knows the necessity for such facilities. Plans are also in the works to open one hundred speciality hospitals in Greater Hyderabad and expand NIMS to meet the rising demand for healthcare.
