Sewage Treatment Plant Benefits Hyd As India's First City To Treat 100% Sewage

MA&UD Minister KTR Launches New Sewage Treatment Plant in Kokapet, Hyd

K. T. Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister of Telangana inaugurated a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) with a capacity of 15 million litres daily at Kokapet on Saturday. 

According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SSB) officials, the plant has sophisticated sequencing reactor technology. 

The total cost of construction was Rs 66.16 crore. The Minister for IT, Industries, MA &UD of Telangana has announced on Twitter that the state plans to treat all of its sewage by the end of 2023. 

The government of Telangana tweeted that it was building a series of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) with a massive combined capacity of 1259.50 million litres per day (MLD), at a total cost of 3,866 crores, to make Hyderabad the first major city in India to achieve 100% treatment of its sewerage by September 2023. 

A senior officer stated, "This STP will treat the sewage from Vattinagulapally, Taj Nagar, Journalists' Colony (Gachibowli), Gowlidoddy, and portions of the Financial District."
