What is the early bird scheme offered by GHMC?

For all the property tax payments in April, GHMC is offering an early bird offer. According to this offer, the taxpayers will get a 5% discount on their taxes. Therefore, you need to pay only 95% of your tax liability if you make the full payment of property tax for the year 2018-19.

Announcement:

GHMC Commissioner Mr. B. Janardhan Reddy asked the property taxpayers under Greater Hyderabad limits to pay their property tax before April 30 to get a 5 percent discount under the Early Bird Scheme. The early bird scheme aims to encourage citizens to clear their property tax dues in advance.

He also said that this scheme is available only on annual tax payments. So far, GHMC has collected Rs 121 cr. more than the previous year in property tax collections. He is confident that many taxpayers will avail this scheme. The amount collected in the form of property tax by the GHMC under the early bird scheme has increased year after year.

The actual property tax collections under the early bird scheme in the previous years are as follows:

• 2017-18 - Rs 368.3 cr
• 2016-17 - Rs 212 cr
• 2015-16 - Rs 161.38 cr
• 2014-15- Rs 119.94 cr
• 2013-14 - Rs 190 cr

GHMC receives Rs. 814 cr till date on Town Planning:

• Mr Janardhan Reddy said that GHMC received Rs. 814 cr for property taxes and building permissions.
• In 2017-18, they received Rs.647.07 crores on building permissions and Rs.167.04 crores on Layout Regularisation Scheme.  The Commissioner said the amount collected by the GHMC under the early bird scheme has increased.        
• The Commissioner informed that the GHMC is planning to introduce an online system to pay property tax for the year 2018-19 after April 7 under the Early Bird Scheme.
