On Thursday, 19th Nov, TRS working President and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao stated that the State Government would introduce strict steps to tackle the encroachment of nalas and tanks in Hyderabad.

Govt Strict Rules for Demolition of Structures On Nalas

In January and February, attempts were made to implement the new GHMC Act with a provision for the demolition without notification of structures built on nalas. To eliminate all encroachments on nalas and tanks, the State Government was planning to develop a Strategic Nala Production (SNDP) on the lines of the SRDP.

Over 28,000 encroachments of nalas and tanks identified a risk of flooding to several colonies. The Government ensured that all issues related to thousands of land-related properties in Hyderabad could be resolved. It committed to provide dispute free ownership as for its properties to the poor and the middle class alike. Also, the Government brought a GO 58 to regularise and offer pattas to the government lands that were encroached by the poor.

The Government initiated several urban welfare programmes. A lakh double bedroom house in Hyderabad is being constructed by the State Government with a cost of Rs 9,714 crores. In the country, there is no bigger city than Hyderabad, which has a better or larger slum development programmes.
