Hyderabad Civic Body Seek Rs 566 Crore Central Relief Fund

With heavy rains hitting Hyderabad city, the state government decided to take up relief measures on a war-footing.

Under the National Disaster Response Fund, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has applied for Rs 566 crore financial assistance from the Central Government. Confirming this, a senior GHMC official said the municipal corporation was seeking financial aid through the government of the state.

List of Required Relief Fund

The municipal corporation seeks Rs 566 crore financial aid include

  • Rs 83 crore to restore the stormwater drains
  • Rs 54 crore for lakes restoration works
  • Rs 59 crore to restore 1,200 km BT roads
  • Rs 370 crore for laying CC roads

CM Relief Fund Donations

In the meantime, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, corporate representatives and members of the co-option have agreed to donate their monthly salary to the CM Relief Fund. The members of the Board of Secunderabad Cantonment have declared that their four-month salary would be donated to the CM Relief Fund. Letters to this effect were handed over by the Mayor to Mr KTR, the Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development.
