Hyderabad Civic Body to Give 5% Rebate on Building Permission Charges

Builders can now avail the option to pay their permission charges in four installments, but they can't expect the five percent rebate to be applicable if they choose to pay in installments.

In Hyderabad, to boost revenues, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has proposed to offer a five percent discount on building permissions charges to be availed by builders. Still, the condition is that the installment offer shall not be availed, and the full amount will be paid on the application itself. Also, this scheme will benefit the builders or developers if the plot area exceeds 1000 square meters.

And, from now onwards, builders can opt-out for paying their permission charges in four installments, though they cannot avail the five percent rebate applicable otherwise. The first installment has to be paid while applying for a permit, while the rest will be compensated before March 2021.

However, the scheme will be abolished post-March 2021, as per the Officials.

The GHMC officials have confirmed that their scheme has received appreciation so far, and they wish to see a similar response and acceptance pouring in for this scheme even in the upcoming quarters. "We have been bombarded with requests ever since the scheme was launched," a GHMC Official confirmed.

As per the reports and estimates, the town planning wing can generate attractive revenues of around 1000 crore every year. In the year 2018-2019, The Building fee collection also settled at 850 crores, and in 2019-20 it swelled up to 1050 crores.

"We still managed to exceed our target last year and ended up collecting more than 1000 crores." This financial year too, however, went a bit haywire due to COVID'19. Still, we are assured that the revenue generated shall be able to exceed 1000 crores." Though, the target set before the pandemic broke out was to achieve 1,300 crores revenue." A GHMC official stated.
