Hyderabad’s Skyroot Reveals Its Latest Rocket Vikram-1

Hyderabad’s Skyroot Aerospace reveals its latest rocket, Vikram-1

Hyderabad's space startup, Skyroot Aerospace, introduced its indigenously developed Vikram-1 rocket, set to transport satellites to low earth orbit in early 2024. The launch was accompanied by the inauguration of the company's new headquarters, 'The MAX-Q Campus,' situated within the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park in South Hyderabad, by Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh. The Skyroot headquarters spans an impressive 60,000 square feet, representing the nation's largest private rocket development facility under one roof.

Vikram-1, a multi-stage launch vehicle constructed from carbon fiber, has the capability to deploy payloads of around 300 kg into Low Earth Orbit. It incorporates 3D-printed liquid engines and can facilitate the placement of multiple satellites into orbit. This marks Skyroot's second rocket, following the successful launch of the Vikram-S rocket on November 18 last year.

Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh recognized Skyroot as a testament to India's exceptional talent and scientific capabilities, underscoring the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to open India's Space Sector for Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Bharath Daka, Co-Founder and COO of Skyroot, expressed great pride in the simultaneous unveiling of Vikram-1 and the inauguration of their new headquarters, emphasizing their commitment to advancing space technology. Skyroot looks forward to sharing further updates on Vikram-1's orbital mission as they prepare for the early 2024 launch.
