NGOs Throw In Lifeline for COVID-hit Individuals

Telangana Police has launched 'Seva Ahaar' (free lunch), in partnership with organisations, such as Sri Satya Sai Seva Organization, the Lead Life Foundation, Swiggy, the Big Basket and the Hope Organization, to assist COVID-19 patients in home isolation by giving them access to nutritious food.

Covid-19 patients in home isolation can send a WhatsApp message by providing their name as mentioned in the Covid-19 certificate, contact number, and location to +91 7799616163. This food initiative is expected to address the needs of anywhere between 1,000 and 2,000 COVID-19 sufferers daily.

Requests should be made every day before 6 a.m. The maximum number of people to whom food can be served is five and the maximum number of days to order is also five from a registered mobile number.

With the launch of a Seva Ahaar mobile application, free food services will further be simplified. Seniors and children in isolation have been given priority by the service.

Officials informed that the services will be more systemic and broadly distributed once the app is launched.
