Telangana Allocates Rs 400 Crore For Digital Land Survey

In order to facilitate a comprehensive digital land survey in Telangana, the government has allocated Rs 400 crore for the upcoming fiscal year. This is not the first time any state government has undertaken such a digital land survey. Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Bihar have all undertaken land surveys earlier.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao recently announced that a comprehensive digital land survey will be undertaken and tenders will be floated for the project soon. While the total cost of the project is expected to cost around Rs 600 crore, the Telangana government has allocated Rs 400 crore for now with the promise that the remaining amount will be released in 2022-23 fiscal.

The government is also currently gathering information about how other states are doing land surveys and the cost and technology involved in the process.

This is the first time in 90 years that a comprehensive land survey will be undertaken. The digital survey will not only end disputes but will also lead to transparency in the land records.
