Telangana Offers 50% Relief in Property Tax to Residential Property Owners

The Telangana government has announced a 50% rebate in property tax for property owners in the state. 

The government of Telangana has confirmed that property owners in the state would get a 50 percent rebate in property tax. A waiver shall also apply to individuals paying tax up to Rs 15,000 per year in GHMC, and up to Rs 10,000 in other municipalities. Almost 13 lakh people in the Great Hyderabad limits would benefit from the decision.

Tax Deduction for FY 2020- 21 

Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao clarified on Saturday, 14th Nov that the tax relief is a gift for Diwali festival. The minister announced the decision and confirmed that for the financial year 2020-2021 the tax rebate would be valid. Even though the property owners have paid their taxes for this year, in the next financial year, the sum (50% balance) will be adjusted.

In view of the following elections for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, a tax rebate was reportedly issued. Elections have already been started by the State Electoral Commission (SEC), and the notification is expected shortly. The government of Telangana has also declared a tax relief during the last elections in 2016. The nominal tax Rs 101 is required for those paying up to Rs 1,000 a year.

In addition, the state government also increased the salary for the sanitation workers from Rs 14,500 to Rs 17,500. The government stated the salary was raised in appreciation of their services during the Covid 19 pandemic.

The Ministry said that Rs 10,000 instant support for the recent flood victims in Greater Hyderabad would continue to be provided by the government. He informed the people to register their names in Mee Seva centres and to provide bank information in order to benefit from this.
