Union Housing Ministry launched e-Dharti GeoPortal to Ensure Transparency

The 'e-Dharti Geo Portal' was launched on Wednesday by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, which will incorporate legacy drawings such as maps and lease plans into the management information system and make it possible to allow the geographic information system (GIS).

The land & development office (L&DO) interacting with about 60,000 commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential properties. The L&DO has developed a property certificate, according to the ministry, containing descriptions and the outline map of the property available on the portal online.

The minister encouraged all organizations to make efforts to find further operations that need to be automated and made free of human interfaces. The power of technology is immense in India, which has tremendous software technology capabilities, can use this power to our advantage.

The Union Minister stated that the step would incorporate legacy drawings such as maps and lease plans into the e-Dharti Management Information System ( MIS) and make it GIS accessible.

The online event was attended by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra, Land & Development Officer Amit Kataria, and other senior ministry officers. Detailed information about the portal was provided by Kataria.

Process of E-Dharti GeoPortal

It specified that the certificate to be provided includes property specifics such as land type, property type, allotment date, property status, sub-type, plot location, lease deed execution date, property address, current leaseholder information, and litigation status, among others.

The property certificate, which will give the lessee as well as the prospective buyer all the necessary information about the property, will be accessible by paying a nominal fee of Rs 1,000 and can be viewed by the public by visiting the website of L&DO-www.ldo.gov.in.

The lessee of the property would be able to get the basic information of his or her property along with the map showing its location through the certificate. Adding to this measure would also assist a prospective buyer to determine the specifics of the property as well as whether any suit or proceeding is pending in relation to the property.

This initiative would benefit the general public, particularly the elder people and the change would also help to prevent unwanted litigation.
