Ashok Nagar Nala shrinks due to illegal debris dumps

The people living in Chikkadpally are worried about the inundation that the illegal dumping of construction debris in the Ashok Nagar Nala may induce in the future.

The Nala has been shrinking because of encroachments and solid waste dumps. Residents voiced out that the authorities have done nothing about the increased dumps despite several complaints.

GHMC sources stated that they were overseeing the wall construction and would ascertain that debris remained on the other side and wouldn't be dumped in the Nala.

Officials proclaimed that as most construction units aren't willing to pay construction and demolition plants to collect debris, they are opting to dump it on the nearest sly.

The official added, "Once the debris is dumped in the lake, the GHMC itself must bear the expense of paying private C&D plants to lift it from the lake, which includes other solid waste materials, making the recycling process arduous."
