Colonel Santosh Babu's Wife Appointed as Deputy Collector

Chief Minister of Telangana appoints Santoshi as a Deputy Collector. Santoshi, the wife of late Colonel Santosh Babu, one of the 20 casualties of the Indo-China Galwan clash has also been given an ex-gratia of rupees 5 crores and a house plot of 711-square yards in Banjara Hills, on July 22nd, 2020.

Though Santoshi's first preference was to be a commercial tax officer, she later opted to be a Group-I cadre deputy collector and the Telangana government accepted her decision.

Santoshi was appointed as the deputy collector by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The documents for the plot were given to Santoshi by Shweta Mohanty, Hyderabad Collector, at the residence of the Chief Minister - Pragati Bhavan, where she was invited along with her family.

KCR, Chief Minister of Telangana, informed Santoshi and her family that the services of Santosh Babu would always be remembered and that the government would be with them every step of the way. He has also asked his Secretary Smita Sabharwal to take care of Santoshi till she gets the hang of things. At the Pragati Bhavan, the Chief Minister, along with 20 members of Santoshi's family, had lunch.

Colonel Santosh Babu, whose native place is Suryapet and was the Commanding Officer of the Indian Army's Bihar Regiment. The attack took place when he was asked to check upon the patrolling of the Chinese soldiers, at Galwan point 14, on June 15th. On the whole, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in this attack.

Chief Minister KCR paid his visit to the grieving family of Colonel Santosh Babu on June 22nd, 2020. He assured the family that Telangana's government would always take care of them and then presented them with an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 crores as Cheque, which was promised by him.
