GHMC Approves an Exclusive Budget for Infrastructure Developments

All the city development works have been classified as 'Other works of infrastructure' and for the same Rs 2.131.68 crore are approved.  

The GHMC expects revenue of Rs 2.413.60 crore through property taxes and construction permits to be generated for this financial year. Capital spending is Rs 3,186 Crore out of the Rs 5,600-crore budget. Investment in the fields of road renovation, infrastructure development, drains, paving, parks, lighting, and other construction is covered by capital expenditure.  

Detailed Budget Information   

  • GHMC's expected 2021-22 revenue (building fees, property taxes, etc): Rs 3,571 Crore  

  • Expenditure on revenue (income expenditure, salaries, etc.): Rs 2,413.60 Crore  

  • Capital receipts (development works of income transfers, loans, etc): Rs 983.04 Crore  

  • Capital expenditure (funds spent in roads, drains, parks, lighting, etc): Rs 3,186 Crore  

Proposed Major sector Fundings  

  • Rs 2,131.68 Crore under the category of other development works   

  • Land acquisition, road development, and maintenance, road-cutting restoration, road widening, footpath, and table drain works come under this development works category  

  • Road restoration under CRMP - Rs 350 Crore  

  • The greenery (parks, planting, etc.) - Rs 357 Crore  

  • Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) - Rs 918 Crore  

  • Sewerage Lines – Rs 180 Crore  

  • Strengthening of Strom water drains - Rs 341 Crore  

  • Pattana Pragathi - Rs 943 Crore  

According to GHMC statistics, the total expenditure will increase as the city's overall main road network of 709 Km is being restored in accordance with the CRMP and the money is being gradually loaned out to the agencies. In addition, Pattana Pragathi is to be drawn more money this year.
