GHMC Plans to Set Up 55 Theme Parks in Hyderabad by December

More urban green spaces are likely to come up in the city. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to construct 55 theme parks in different stages by the end of the year.

According to the GHMC, construction on many theme parks has already commenced, with the zonal commissioners highlighting the significance of getting these facilities to the city as soon as possible. These theme parks will have unique and creative features that would set them apart from other parks.

The theme parks, which will cost Rs 134 crore, will have 85% of engineering and civil works completed, and GHMC will then undertake greenery and beautification work before opening them to the public.

Women-oriented theme parks are also being built for the convenience of women at Sachivalaya Nagar, LB Nagar zone, Teacher's Colony, LB Nagar zone, TNGOs Colony, and Serilingampally. These will have various sections catering to providing workshops and yoga sessions.

V Krishna, GHMC Additional Commissioner (Urban Biodiversity Wing) informed that the theme parks will be accessible in sections with all 55 being ready by the end of this year. Some major parks and theme parks, such as Dog Park, Panchatantra Park, and Kishanbagh Park, have already opened and are being used by citizens.

17 parks with various themes such as palmetum, ficus, bougainvillaea, and herbal have already been installed in the GHMC area. Previously, the civic body outlined 17 Panchatatva parks on the orders of M&UD Minister KT Rama Rao.

Proposed Tree Parks 

GHMC has taken on dense tree plantations and identified them as tree parks after finding of 500 open spaces. Other facilities, such as playgrounds and community centres, have implemented this initiative by dividing the activity area.

The GHMC is developing these tree parks, mostly in colonies, and planting saplings under Telanganaku Haritha Haaram to provide a healthy climate. Unproductive trees, plants, and shrubs are being removed from unmaintained lands in order to plant saplings.
