GHMC to set up signals for the safety of walkers on city streets

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has noticed that there are several unsafe points around the city of Hyderabad. These points need assistance immediately to retain the basic safety of the walkers.

Given this, the GHMC stated in a release on Thursday that it has planned on building footpaths with barricades, foot-over bridges, and a few other projects for the walkers' safety.

The GHMC stated that "Till now, ninety-four such signals have been built to help the citizens cross the road safely and soundly. And an 817 km footpath costing about Rs 33 crores has been built."

"We also plan on building Free on Boards (FoBs) on the busy roads, on both sides of the 60 metro stations in the city,” they added.

The GHMC has also augmented developmental and beautification projects in 12 different junctions in Hyderabad.
