Government Extends Night Curfew in Telangana till May 8

To curb the spread of COVID-19, the Telangana government has extended the night curfew until May 8. Earlier, it had imposed a night curfew till April 30 from 9 pm to 5 am. Here are some of the key points to remember:

About Night Curfew in Telangana

  • All commercial and market centers must be shut by 8 p.m. to allow people to reach home by 9 p.m.

  • Transport of goods must not be stopped

  • The movement of patients in essential vehicles is allowed

  • Trains and flights will allow people to travel with valid photo identification

  • People traveling within the district and within the state may do so by showing their tickets

  • In different parts of the city and across the state, checkpoints have been established. People have been urged not to leave their houses during the time of curfew unless there is an emergency.

  • Public transport services, including cars and taxis, shall continue to operate within the time specified for the transport of exempt categories of persons.

The government plans to impose these local restrictions in order to flatten the rising COVID-19 curve in the city and implement strict containment measures.
