Govt Spent Rs 67,000 Crore on Infra Projects in Hyderabad, says Minister

K.T. Rama Rao, minister for municipal administration and urban development, recently declared that a total of Rs 67,000 crore has been spent in the capital in the last six years for infrastructure development.

While speaking in the assembly, the minister said that the money has been spent across various projects, of which Rs 9,764 crore was spent by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Rs 1,067 crore by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and Rs 2,374 by Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited.

Proposed Budget for Infrastructure Developments

Telangana government has turned Hyderabad into a global city, said the minister. Although many cities, such as Chennai and others depend on drinking water supply through trains, Hyderabad has adequate water.

In addition, the government has carried out the Sunkesula project to draw out Krishna water from Nagarjuna Sagar to ensure adequate potable water supply by 2050. For this purpose, out of Rs 1,450 crore of the total project cost, an amount of Rs 725 crore was approved in the current budget.

He said that in three years, the Kaleshwaram, the world's largest multi-level lift irrigation project has been completed. The whole nation, and in particular Telangana, are proud. He also noted that in the current budget, Rs 200 crore has been allocated to MRDCL. Adding to these, 300 Swachh cars will be flagged on Thursday in the city to take up door-to-door garbage collection more effectively.
