Telangana Government Plans to Generate Income through Unused Land Sales

Finance Minister T Harish Rao has declared that Rs 16,000 will be raised by the State from land sales. In response to a discussion at the assembly about the Budget, he said there were unused plots and that they plan to sell them. The government planned to get income from land sales last year, but the plan did not come to fruition because of Covid-19.

The Minister of Finance said that a major mining policy aims to increase non-tax revenue by revealing another plan for generating income for the state.

In rejecting the claims of the Opposition that the State has enormous debt and is not viable to manage it, he said the debt fell within the GSDP and loan ratio decided by the Central Government and Reserve Bank of India ( RBI). Loans are not more than the ratio established by the Central government, and are well within the limits.

The Minister said the state was doing well on several parameters, including per-capita income, per-capita power consumption, agriculture growth and related sectors. The state government has also fulfilled all its poll promises.
