Helpline Launched for Children of Covid Patients

Cyberabad Police has recently opened a Child Care Response Centre for providing protection to the children of COVID-19 patients.

Care Center for Children of COVID-19 Patients

V.C. Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, stated that the centre and individual caretakers have been identified to ensure the safety of children whose parents are receiving COVID-19 treatment.

There has been a pattern of young parents and nuclear families being affected as the number of cases increase. In the majority of cases, either one or both parents have been hospitalised or put under home quarantine.

It's upsetting to see the children being left alone at home unattended because they have no immediate family, said Sajjanar. Therefore, this initiative was taken, he added.

Plans were made to organize resources to get a few facilities up and running on short notice, said officials privy to the matter. A dedicated helpline has been launched which take the details of such children. Teams conduct a background check, and children of COVID-affected parents are safely dropped off at this centre.

Child care centres and individual caregivers can register on covid.scsc.in. They can also call the helpline number 080-45811215 for queries, advice, and admission between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
