HGCL to Develop Additional Interchanges on Hyderabad Outer Ring Road

Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL) is developing another two road interchanges this year, in addition to the 19 current interchanges on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), apart from lighting project on the expressway at a cost of about Rs.100 crore.

As directed by KT Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister the HGCL takes up the lighting project on the expressway to ensure greater convenience for vehicles, said Santosh Kumar, managing director of HGCL.

HGCL made every effort to construct two additional interchanges on Hyderabad ORR at 158 km by the end of this year. Amid the Covid 19 pandemic and the negative effect on the works, HMDA had achieved significant development last year, and at present beautification work was progressing at 19 existing interchanges.

In accordance with the MAUD Minister's instruction, a world-class layout has been proposed at Kokapet. Other construction works have been under process and are being carried out at a rapid pace with these works. The Logistics Park in Mangalpally is already operational and would soon launch the one in Batasingaram. The 16  urban forestry blocks were ready and will be open soon for visitors. 

The beautification works of the Tank Bund and the Necklace road was at the final stage and will be completed soon for the public. The safety and convenience of pedestrians were given top priorities and subsequently, work was progressed on two skywalks at Uppal and Mehdipatnam.

In 2021, Arvind Kumar, HMDA in-charge Commissioner issued orders promoting 42 officers and strengthened their confidence also requested officials to complete all of the developments on time.
