Hyderabad - Builders Sponsoring Air Tickets to Bring Back Migrants

Many builders in Hyderabad have offered to pay for the migrant's air tickets in a bid to kickstart business activities and construction work again. The builders are providing migrants air tickets as they can resume the real estate construction works soon.

Builders Providing Airfare for Migrant Workers Return

Hyderabad migrant workers, who have made challenging journeys to reach their native places amid lockdowns, are allowed to return to the city at absolutely no cost. Because of the lack of basic amenities, approximately 1.5 lakh migrant laborers have returned to their home towns since the lockdown, mostly from UP, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

Now, their employers are booking air tickets and AC train tickets in the hope of luring the back to their sites. Carpenters, painters, granite workers, and scaffolding experts from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal have already started to arrive in the city. The rest of the labor force is expected to come from Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, UP, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu.

As they comprise almost 50% of the city's total labor force, builders are more than willing to pay Rs 4000 to Rs 5000, the average cost per head for air tickets. At these desperate times, builders need to invest in bringing workers back to the city and also have to give some incentives for them. Developers have no choice but to spend in order to resume business activities and construction works

With offering flight tickets and extra payments, several construction firms wooing migrant workers back to resume work help to restore normalcy in the real estate sector.
