Smart City Research Center (SCRC) is developed by the International Institute of Information Technology in Hyderabad (IIIT-H) with the support of MEITY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology), Smart City Mission and the Telangana Government.

Smart City Research Centre in Hyderabad

IIIT-H will give the Smart City Research Center its expertise in a variety of domains including signal processing, smart design, automated building, optics, photonics, flexible electronics, embedded systems and IoT systems, integrated radio frequency circuit design and VLSI low power design, computer system research and development, etc.

As part of its ambitious project to promote economic growth and enhance life quality across the country, the Center, under its Smart Cities Mission, covers 100 cities for a 5-year span with a city budget of Rs100 crores per year. Under its current project, the Living Lab of IIIT-H, an effort to incorporate the new programme, aims to develop an urban area with three domains that maximise the value of social, economic and environmental.

The IIITH Living Lab will cooperate on smart city solutions with government departments, start-ups and major organisations. IIITH Campus will include numerous IoT verticals related to air quality, building energy, water quantity, and quality, street lighting, etc. He added that because technological features are present in homes, buildings, campuses and cities, access to such spaces is necessary to ensure the definition, design and construction of the proper products.
