KTR Proposes Special Funds for Industrial Projects in Union Budget 2021-22

On Wednesday, 23rd Dec, IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao asked the Union Government to grant at least Rs 4,070 crore as special funds for major projects such as Hyderabad Pharma City, the National Industrial Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ)-Zaheerabad, the National Design Centre (NDC) and the State's Industrial Corridor.

In this regard, the Minister submitted a letter to the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, requesting budgetary allocations for these projects in the 2021-22 Union Budget.

Budgetary Allocations for State Industrial Projects

With thanking the Ministry for including the National Industrial Corridor Construction and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) Hyderabad-Warangal and Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridors, Rama Rao said the approximate project thought of providing up infrastructure development in these two nodes was around Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 crores, respectively. 

Pointing out that the Telangana Government was keen to build these two fast-track projects, it sought the allocation of funds in the budget estimates for 2021-22 to the extent of at least 50 percent of the project cost.

The Minister further said Hyderabad Pharma City (HPC) was established by the state government as the largest integrated pharmaceutical park in the world to promote domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing in line with the Union government's 'Make in India' and 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' initiatives and to consolidate India's leadership role in the pharmaceutical sector.

The project is envisaged to become a first-of-its-kind featuring state-of-the-art infrastructure comprising common facilities including Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) based Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), integrated solid waste management facility, district heating and cooling systems, logistic parks, Global Pharma University, regulatory facilitation cells, common drug development and testing laboratories, and Startup/SME Hub, among others.
