Government to Develop Pollution-Free Pharma City in Hyderabad

The government is gearing up to develop an effluent Hyderabad Pharma City with the objective to make it a pollution-free project.

Hyd Pharma City with Live, Work & Learn Model

On Tuesday IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao announced that the eagerly awaited Hyderabad Pharma City will be built, along with a centralized treatment system for pharmaceutical waste produced with zero-liquid discharge units. In a "Live, Work, and Learn" model, Hyderabad Pharma City will have its employees on the same campus.

The minister instructed the officials to ensure that the project remains pollution-free and that international standards are strictly complied with. He advised that the master plan be developed in line with the pharmaceutical clusters that are developed in foreign countries. This stated that before preparation of the master plan to reduce emissions, the wind-flow survey had already been completed.

The pharmaceutical companies on campus are restricted to the disposal of excess waste with centralised treatment facilities. Officials have told that work is being carried out at a rapid pace in Pharma City, with many companies showing interest in setting up their units.

During recruitment by companies in the Hyderabad Pharma City, the Minister directed officers to set-up training centres for local young people. In recruiting in the industries established in the State, the government has already started to give priority to local youth and providing a good incentive to do so.
