OTS Scheme Period Extended to Oct 31 for Property Tax Payment Clearances

On Monday, the state government extended the one-time settlement scheme for payment of property tax for another 45 days with a waiver of interest on arrears by 90 per cent.

State Extended Property Tax Dues Payment 

With increasing demands from various quarters, the state government on Monday extended the last date for the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for payment of pending property tax and water bills arrears until October 31.

Minister of Municipal Administration KT Rama Rao made the announcement in the State Assembly on Monday extending the scheme by another 45 days from its previous time limit of September 15.

Under the OTS scheme introduced across all 141 Urban Local Authorities (ULBs), the government of the state permitted the waiver of 90% of accumulated interest arrears on property tax with one go. Similarly, full interest on payment of the entire arrears in a single payment will be waived for water bill defaulters.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has raised Rs 131,79 crore from 60,919 properties under the OTS scheme so far, against property tax arrears (including 10 percent interest on arrears) of Rs 1,545.75 crore for 5.41 lakh properties. Around 72,460 property owners in the remaining ULBs have cleared dues amounting to Rs 50.31 crore to date.
