PMAY-Urban Scheme Introduction Front-lined in Andhra Pradesh - CM

On Friday, 1st Jan 2021, Andhra Pradesh CM stated that the government had played a key role in the country's implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U). The state has launched a special drive to provide 30.75 lakh eligible home sites to deserving individuals.

The Chief Minister made the statements during a conference at the foundation stone laying ceremony of LHPs (Light House Projects) on Friday. Under the Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India) through video conferencing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Light House Projects (LHPs).

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh said that by 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisioned housing for all, by which year the nation will complete 75 years of independence. The programme is of particular importance to Andhra Pradesh, which is vulnerable to natural disasters like cyclones and flooding.

A total of 68,677 acres have been distributed to families for this purpose. The Chief Ministers took part in the ceremony from different states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh.

According to the previous statements , the LHPs will be built at Indore, Rajkot, Chennai, Ranchi, Agartala and Lucknow, consisting of almost 1,000 houses at each area along with allied infrastructure facilities.
