For the MMTS phase II project, Rs. 600 crores were collected from the Union Budget, under its railway budget share, to execute the work, which was sanctioned with an approximate cost of Rs. 817 crores.
The project work was delayed due to the non-availability of funds, with the state government releasing Rs. 279 crores as its share of the total cost.
However, the works already finished are included on the Ramachandrapuram stretch, 14 km between Medchal and Bolarum, and Moula Ali-Ghatkesar quadrupling at 12.2 km, and Falaknuma-Umdanagar doubling at 13.5 km.
Some works are still underway, including Sanath Nagar to Moula Ali doubling with electrification and Moula Ali – Malkajgiri – Sitafalmandi also doubling with electrification.
Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that they had allocated more funds for this project to go over smoothly.
Doubling with electrification has been completed in Secunderabad-Medchal, which has been pending for a long time.
