Telangana News- Supply of PDS Rice to Migrant Labourers in GHMC

Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao held a review meeting with officials and informed them to tighten the preventive lockdown measures further within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)'s 126 containment zones.

PDS Rice & Essential Commodities Distribution

Following CM KCR's instructions, Minister of Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that the distribution of rice under PDS (Public Distribution System) in Telangana to migrant laborers within GHMC area would be expedited within a few days. He also urged the corporates to extend their support during the shutdown time and help the needy. The Minister reviewed the progress of the lockdown, supply of essential commodities, and other emergency services provided in the city at a teleconference with MLAs, MLCs, and GHMC area corporates. The elected representatives addressed numerous issues relating to people, particularly the poor and needy, who struggled in their respective localities for groceries and vegetables.

Minister Talasani said all 30 GHMC circles were divided into 17 zones where Health, Revenue, Police and Municipal Department officials were designated as nodal officers to track lockdown execution, distribution of rice under PDS, essential commodities, and also provide essential services to local citizens. Besides sanitation, special focus is put on the supply of power and water in all localities. Apart from conducting mobile rythu bazaars, about 4,000 quintals of vegetables from 12 rythu bazaars are supplied by the State Government. They have been able to serve food to people every day with the help of many individuals and organizations. As a result, many poor and needy people are being supplied with additional essential goods and other foodstuffs.

With the introduction of preventive lockdown steps and the distribution of essential commodities, the State Government plays a crucial role in ensuring that individuals from 126 containment zones do not face any problems in leading their lives.
