Telangana Cement Companies Agree to Cut Prices to Boost Realty Sector

Responding to be part of the government's initiatives to boost the construction sector and several other sectors providing large-scale job opportunities, the cement industry representatives extended assurance to lower the cement prices for bulk supply to projects like 2BHK Housing Scheme in Telangana.

Cement Companies to Revise Prices

On June 11, Telangana Cement manufacturing companies agreed to revise rates to assist the real estate industry impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown. The companies also extended an assurance to continue supplying cement at Rs 230 per bag for state-government projects such as the double bedroom housing scheme for the next three years as the companies have been providing cement bags for the scheme at that price since 2016.

The construction industry is one that has been offering significant employment opportunities during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. If this industry gets affected, it will leave an impact on various other sectors, including cement industries. The cement company’s representatives reacted positively and said they would reduce the cement cost after holding an internal meeting with the heads of the manufacturing companies.

Ministers KT Rama Rao and Prashanth Reddy previously held a high-level meeting with the state's heads of cement industries. They agreed to set up a training center in affiliation with the National Academy of Construction at Huzurnagar. This would create skilled manpower by training the local youth of Huzurnagar, an area with a large number of cement industries. The representatives of the Cement Companies said that they would provide complete support to the training center in the coming days.

An assurance of revised cement prices by cement manufacturing companies in Telangana would help to boost the real estate sector in Hyderabad.
