Unauthorized Structures in Rangareddy Razed By Revenue Authorities

Rangareddy revenue authorities began a demolition drive on November 10 in a significant move after floods, clearing buildings in lakes and nalas. Out of the 78 illegal structures identified in the Rajendranagar division, 55 were pulled down by the authorities.

Illegal Structures Demolition Drive 

Illegal structures at the full tank level (FTL) of lakes and nalas have been demolished, according to Rangareddy District Collector Amoy Kumar. In October, heavy rains triggered the flooding of many localities in and around the city's reservoirs.

Telangana High Court issued suomotu to report on the situation of floods and encroachments and gave notices to the authorities. The High Court ordered that FTL be fixed and illegal structures removed. A joint team of revenue, GHMC, irrigation, police and Panchayat Raj departments started the demolition drive following the HC directions.

This special drive to remove the encroachments was launched on November 4. Within the Nalas, 78 encroachments were found. So far, 55 of them have been cleared using earthmovers, and On Tuesday, 10th November, 28 illegal buildings were demolished. The special drive will continue to demolish the remaining illegal buildings.
