Vaccination Drive Resumes for People Above Forty Five

The government is yet to start the COVID-19 vaccine drive for the 18-45 age group as scheduled due to a shortage of vaccines. As such, vaccination centres in the district have resumed COVID-19 vaccination for people over 45. 

Government Provides COVID Vaccine for 45+ People 

The people over the age of 45 who had come to get their second dose of the vaccine were given priority at government-run vaccination centres, according to sources in the Health Department.  A vaccination camp was also held at the Government Arts College by the vaccination centre at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).  

As per a CMCH official, a total of 1,120 people were vaccinated at the camp. 900 people were given CoviShield doses, with some receiving their first dose and some receiving their second. At the camp, a total of 220 people received their second dose of Covaxin. Nurses and police officers were among those who received the vaccination.
