Dug-up roads causing anguish to Old City residents

Commuting distress continues to torment citizens as many stretches binding the by-lanes and roads in parts of Old City are dug up for civic works, causing misery every day to road users. Several roads especially in the Charminar constituency were dug up and were not renovated after civic works had been carried out

Syed Mushtaq Ahmed exclaimed that "Works at many places are going at snail's pace. The roads in areas where the works have been completed remain dug up." Syed Hussaini, a resident of Purani Haveli expressed that roads have been dug up at Murraq Khana for more than six months and despite several representations given to authorities, all went in vain. He added that although work was allotted and payment had been sanctioned, no work began.

Mohammed Ahmed, a social activist expressed that "The Water Board has dug up many stretches to lay stormwater pipelines. But after the works, it failed to restore the roads. I request the officials to address the issue as residents and commuters are facing difficulties in traveling on these dug-up roads."
