Union Road Minister Plans to Clear 10 Hectares Forest Cowl for Road Stretch

Union Ministry of Road Transportation and Highways has drawn plans to develop Hyderabad ORR-Medak Stretch in a view to ease vehicular traffic at this place.

10 Hectares Forest Cover for Highway

To expand the National Highway,  Nitin Gadkari, the Union Ministry of Road Transportation and Highways has been seeking the approval of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) for clearing of forest cover spread over the ten hectares in the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The ministry said that the forest stretches between Gummadidala to Narsapur and Narsapur to Medak, which extends from seven meters to around ten metres, will be affected while widening the road. 10 hectares of forest land can only be diverted from the districts of Medak and Sangareddy for expansion of that big stretch.

Also, on this 63-km long highway, the traffic volumes have risen. The ORR carriageway would be widened according to the plan. It is still not clear that how many trees are removed for the road expansion project. The government previously chopped many trees for the ORR project.

NH 765D is a newly designated National Highway which passes through Medak and Sangreddy districts.  The plan is expected to cost Rs 426 crore.

The road widening plans of Government is expected to ease traffic on the busy thoroughfare at Hyderabad ORR-Medak road.
