On March 18, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set the goal to provide all with homes by 2022 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for rural areas.
The minister said that the Prime Minister is focused on providing houses for people who do not have houses by 2022. A total of 2.95 crore houses are being constructed as a part of this project. More than 1.32 crore houses have been built under the country's scheme so far, as per the Minister of Rural Development of the Union and Panhayati Raj.
The event took place from Dhar District Headquarters by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan. More than 10,000 work was allocated to community development, 6,000 community cleaning campuses, 2,000 sports grounds, 2,000 Shantidhams and 634 bhawans for panchayat.
On the occasion, the account of the 5 lakh beneficiaries of the PMAY-Gramin got Rs 2,000 crore. Tomar commended Chouhan that Madhya Pradesh is advancing all around under his leadership. During the UPA regime, the Minister stated that there are only six lakh houses built in a year, whereas 29 lakh houses were built and provided to the recipients every year under the current government.
Chouhan stated that in Madhya Pradesh, 3.25 lakh houses are being constructed in a year after enhancement of funds under the scheme, and the state has secured second position in the country in implementing the PMAY-U scheme. Also the poor will now be able to live in pucca houses.
Today 1.25 lakh people have celebrated griha pravesh (house warming ceremony) and earlier 1.75 lakh others got their pucca houses in the state, said the minister.
