HMDA to Construct Satellite Wayside Bus Terminal at Vanasthalipuram

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is developing satellite wayside bus terminals for intercity and interstate buses near Harini Vanasthali Park for the convenience of bus passengers and to resolve traffic congestion at LB Nagar.

Proposed Satellite Wayside Bus Terminal

Around 30,000 commuters going to Nalgonda, Khammam, Vijayawada and other locations board RTC and private buses here in this area every day. TSRTC operates special buses from here during festive seasons such as Dasara and Sankranthi to relieve traffic congestion at MGBS, prevent traffic problems on the city roads, and as a way to diversify bus operations.

During weekends and holidays, the situation gets worse, and travellers face a lot of inconveniences. With nearly 600 buses running from the area, haphazard parking, especially by private bus operators, is causing traffic problems. HMDA is now building a roadside bus terminal with five bus bays to resolve these problems and ensure traffic decongestion.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary stated that HMDA takes up satellite wayside bus terminal with Rs.10 crore at Vanasthalipuram to resolve traffic chaos at LB Nagar for intercity and interstate buses, especially Vijayawada.

There will be six bus bays in the planned facility, and each bus bay will have stalls to set up ATMs, pharmacy, water ATM, inquiries, cafeteria, toilet blocks, AC seating, food courts and enough parking. More significantly, apart from the use of grid electricity, HMDA is setting up solar panels to use eco-friendly power to operate the facilities.
