State Intends to Develop RRR Project & Deliver 50% Cost of Land Acquisition

To boost connectivity between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and major urban clusters, the Telangana Government has decided to provide some funds to put the city infrastructure back on track.

Proposed Infrastructure Development

The Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, with an estimated cost of Rs 13,000 crore, would enhance connectivity between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and other parts of the city. At least a dozen major metropolitan clusters will be wrapped on the development path, including Gajwel, the assembly constituency headed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

To accomplish the scheme, the state government has agreed to share at least 50 percent of the cost of land acquisition. It is estimated that the purchase of land alone would cost over Rs 500 crore. This project is being closely supervised by KCR. As such, the revival of the project plays a major role.

Previously, the Union Ministry of Transport and Highways asked the financial feasibility of the Rs 13,000 crore regional ring road plan given by the TS Government.

The Union Ministry informed the state government to re-conduct a new report on the ring road project and provide information of how the state plans to recover the massive investment for developing the 330 km regional ring road. Roads and Buildings Department officials said that the state government submitted the information to every query raised by the ministry.

It is a positive indication that, with Central support, the prestigious regional ring road project will be developed.
