TS Government to Design Comprehensive Transport Infrastructure in Hyd

In order to make Hyderabad a global megacity, a comprehensive traffic and transportation plan will be designed.

After examining the planned Phase II of the Hyderabad Metro, Elevated Bus Rapid Transit System (EBRTS) corridors, Outer Ring Road,  the Musi River project and other important traffic corridors, a team of senior Telangana officials will make recommendations to the state government in this regard.

On Monday, 2nd Nov, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said a comprehensive traffic and transportation plan for the city would be made in tune with the vision of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to make Hyderabad a global megacity. Also, for the prioritisation of corridors decision, the panel will make suggestions.

The Principal Secretaries of MA and UD, Roads and Buildings, Information Technology and Commerce, Finance and Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) MD will be part of the team. The decision was taken at the HMRL and Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) meetings of the Board of Directors, chaired by a Chief Secretary, who is also the Chairman of both bodies.

Following the reopening, the meeting discussed the Metro Rail operations, safeguards, protection and sanitisation steps taken to ensure physical distance, the wearing of passenger masks, etc. There was a detailed presentation on the operations of Metro Rail, its expansion plans and the EBRTS initiative.

Somesh Kumar suggested that a team inspect the corridors and create a detailed plan when addressing Metro Rail Phase II and the 18 km EBRTS project from KPHB Metro station to the Financial District.

The HMRL Board approved the appointment of AECOM India Pvt Ltd and AECOM Singapore Pte. with a contract value of Rs 6.94 crore as the independent engineer for the analysis and monitoring of Metro Rail operations for the next five years.
