Construction Equipment to Get Safety Requirements by Government

The government has put out stricter regulations for construction equipment to ensure improved protection on highways.

Construction Machinery Safety Standards

In order to ensure better safety on highways, the government has formulated stringent rules that include features such as machine-assembled audible travel alarms as well as non-metallic fuel tanks and wider operator visibility for construction equipment to ensure improved protection on highways.

In addition to ensuring protection when such machinery is moving on public roads with other vehicles, the Ministry of Road Transportation and Highways (MoRTH) has created a drafted regulation for construction equipment vehicles dealing with safety issues, protection of the operator and other vehicles.

Construction Equipment Vehicle

Construction equipment vehicles are frequently used to perform various infrastructure projects. This vehicle is separate equipment with rubber tyred, rubber padded or steel drum wheel-mounted compactor, wheeled hydraulic excavator, wheel loader, backhoe loader, skid-steer loader, dumper, motor grader, mobile crane, dozer and pavers.

Some safety specifications in the Central Motor Vehicles Regulations are already prescribed for such vehicles, but this planned notice aims to execute AIS (Automotive Industry Standard) 160  to implement a range of safety standards such as machine mounted audible travel alarms, visual display requirements, requirements for operator station and maintenance areas, non-metallic fuel tanks and Minimum Access Dimensions.

The government has asked stakeholders and people's suggestions on the proposed safety standards to enhance the security of operators on public highways.
