The Covid-19 Relief Scheme has been notified by the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to provide assistance to the families of those employees who died of Covid-19 and covered by ESIC. This scheme is valid from March 2020 for a period of two years. 

A press release said that the family pension normally payable only in case of work injury death is now relaxed to include a death result of Covid-19. 

Accordingly, the employee family members will be eligible for a family pension equal to 90%, subject to the minimum of Rs 1,800 per month, of their deceased employee's average wage.
