Hyderabad takes a leap towards traffic management

Hyderabad is prospering at an exemplary pace. The city is undertaking numerous projects for infrastructure, and commendable performance is being submitted. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) is establishing a four-lane-bi-directional flyover from Shilpa Layout to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Gachibowli Junction under the project, which intends to smoothen the traffic flow in the IT areas.

The State Government's Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) has embarked on building a flyover, 823 meters long and 16.60 meters wide. The project commenced in December 2019 and is expected to be accomplished by June 2022. This bridge is being constructed to ease traffic at the Gachibowli Junction, ORR-Madhapur stretch, and Kondapur. The bridge will also connect Hitec City with the Financial District, clearing traffic and ascertaining steady flow. The project has progressed in digging the foundation pits and laying pillars, which is the beginning and the crucial part. The process will continue at a promising speed and will be completed at the predicted time, as asserted by an engineer overseeing the flyover chores.

The prediction for the Passenger Car Units (PCU) per hour is expected to change drastically from 1,464 in 2020 to 5,194 in 2040 on the Shilpa Layout Road. The peak hour traffic was computed at 9,806 PCU per hour in 2019 and will reach up to 17,711 PCU per hour by 2036 at the Gachibowli Junction.

A contract for constructing the flyover was assigned to M Venkata Rao Infra Projects, and they will construct the central median and crash barriers as well. A six-lane-bi-directional flyover, along with the Shilpa Layout flyover, has been formulated by the State Government to tie Kondapur with the ORR at the Gachibowli Junction second level crossing. The project is expected to cost approximately ? 313.52 crores and promises nuisance-free commuting. The SRDP amasses the building of multiple flyovers and underpasses to ensure smooth traffic flow. The Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited has concatenated many link roads to complement the other projects to enhance traffic conditions and infrastructure.
