Finally, there is good news for the urban poor of the city. At six separate locations across the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), over 1,200 double-bedroom houses for the urban poor have been set up for inauguration. 

Listed Areas of 2BHK Housing Units

The ready-to-open1,200 housing units are situated at the following locations:

• Ambedkar Nagar
• Potti Sri Ramulu Nagar
• CC Nagar
• GY Reddy Nagar
• SC Bose Nagar
• Chilkalguda

A senior GHMC official stated that the highest number of houses among the six locations is at Ambedkar Nagar, near Buddha Bhavan on Necklace Lane — 400. The least number is at SC Bose Nagar with 60 units. The GHMC is building double-bedroom houses, costing around Rs 8 lakh per unit and nearly 2,500 double bedroom houses at other in-situ locations have already been handed over.

While the work of the GHMC is subjected to the construction of houses, the revenue department identifies the beneficiaries. These double bedroom houses are allotted by drawing lots after selecting the beneficiaries.
