Service Roads Widening To Ease Traffic In IT Corridor

To ease traffic in the bustling IT corridor and its area, two crucial service roads i.e. the 7.5 km Nanakramguda – Telangana State Police Academy stretch and the 14.5 km Narsingi-Kollur stretch are being widened, costing approximately Ra 300 crores by the HGCL, a wing of HMDA.

The HMDA aims to finish the road widening works by February 2023. An HMDA official revealed that underground utilities are presently shifting and works are underway rapidly.

He added “As a part of environmental conservation, trees along the stretches will be translocated. The junctions on these roads will also be beautified by developing greenery."

The widening is proposed with lane carriageways, footpaths, central medians, drains, and greenery.

Meanwhile, to provide a hassle-free commute, the HGCL is also renovating the entire Outer Ring Road stretch uniting Gachibowli to Shamshabad.

An HMDA official said “This part of the ORR spread over 24 km is being restored with Rs.87 crore. The plan is to complete the work by June this year. Currently, bitumen is being laid on the stretch."

The Gachibowli to Shamshabad ORR stretch has become an important road connecting the eastern and southern parts of the city to the IT corridor.
